Sparkling Moments II
Hello, fellow jewelry lovers! I thought I’d share this incredible piece of art I had the honor to experience a while back. The zip necklace has been a staple in the collections at Van Cleef & Arpels since it was first commissioned by Duchess of Windsor in 1938. However, the zipper took artisans more than 10 years to perfect and was not completed until 1950! That’s how complicated this technique is. The zip necklace also converts into a bracelet and each piece is one-of-a-kind and highly sought after.
I’ve had the wonderful fortune to experience a variety of these beautiful pieces, but this one in particular took my breath away. The combination of the yellow gold and the multicolor stones mixed with diamonds was really a sight to behold and unfortunately no photo could quite do it justice. The fluidity of the mechanism was really quite extraordinary. Look out for more jewelry posts!
